NEVADA RUST SITE COMING SOON...

Nevada Rust - what is it and what's it about? As the site's title says, it's "a site dedicated to old cars, trucks and machinery in Nevada" that I come across while riding my ATV around the desert; and most of it is indeed rusty, even in the low humidity environment of Nevada.

I think I came up with the idea for this site about 4-5 years ago after seeing so many abandoned cars, trucks and machinery during our ATV rides. I thought that some of them were actually very pretty and unique photo opportunities, so I started photographing them. The earlies photos I have are from 2007, the second year that our ATV Club was in existence. I curently have over 230 photos that will eventually show up on this site.

While I've had the idea for a few years now and didn't do anything, I did register the domains nevadarust.com and nvrust.com not long after thinking of the idea. Now I finally get to use them.

My plan is to post the photos in albums as I take them during my trips to the desert. I want to be able to show the photos on a map using the GPS data of where the photo was taken. Right now, that's a bit of a stumbling block for me as I haven't figures out a way to do that on this site.

Another idea I would like to implement is the ability to have others either post or send me their "Rust" photos so that they can be posted on the site. I am not sure how to do that at this time, but if you have some photos that would be applicable to this page, please upload them using the Uploads page and I will post them and give you credit.

Over the last couple of years with economic times being leaner, I have seen scrappers in the desert taking these old wrecks and selling them for scrap. There is a very good possibility that some of the "Rust" that I show here is no longer in the desert. This site will allow it to live on in our memories.
